Summer Maintenance Suggestions
Here are some maintenance procedures to start your summer off right:
- Oil and Filter Change: This is more important if you are behind on your oil change schedule. Keeping your oil clean helps cool your engine, keeps parts moving correctly and reduces the wear and tear. A new oil filter helps trap harmful dirt, debris, and tiny metal fragments so they do not continue to circulate or build up in your engine.
- Top Off Fluid Levels: Seasonal changes can cause fluids like transmission fluid, brake fluid, windshield wiper fluid, and coolant fluid to be low. Your coolant fluid especially needs to be taken care of, as one of the number one causes of automotive break downs is your engine overheating. If you want help to make sure all your fluid levels are clean and in the proper amount, bring your vehicle in and let our technicians help.
- Tire Condition and Pressure: Our technicians will inspect your tires and assess their condition, and they will bring your tire pressure up to the recommended levels so that you are safer on the road. Don’t forget to have your spare checked out also in case you need it.
- Wheel Alignment: If your vehicle won’t stay straight in a strait stretch or if it is pulling to one side or the other, you may need a wheel alignment. If you hit a curb, pothole, speed bump or have been in a fender bender, there is a good chance that your alignment is off. Be sure to have it checked out to ensure your wheels are aligned.
- Battery Check: Have your battery tested to make sure it is in good health. Summer heat and humidity can accelerate fluid loss and cause oxidation on your battery posts. Have our technician test your battery and clean it to keep good current running to and from your battery to give you more peace of mind.
- Brake Check: These are one of the most important safety features in your vehicle. Over time brake pads and brake shoes wear down, and the friction happening between pads and rotors or shoes and drums is immense. Have your brakes inspected to ensure they are in good shape, so they won’t fail you whenever you need them.
